Volunteer Certificates
Organisations can now issue certificates to volunteers — branded PDFs with a QR code that anyone can scan to verify authenticity.
Designing your certificate type
Create one or more Certificate Types to define the look and content of certificates your organisation issues. For each type you can configure:
- Colours — set the background, text, and accent colours for the certificate PDF.
- Border style — choose from none, thin, single, thick, or double border.
- Logo size and position — the organisation logo is enlarged and centred on the certificate.
- Organisation name — toggle whether the organisation name appears on the certificate alongside the logo.
- Description — write the certificate body text with bold formatting supported. An AI drafting assistant is available to help you write the description.
Issuing certificates
Create a certificate for a volunteer from their Certificates tab or the certificate detail page. Once issued, you can review and edit it before sending.
- Certificates can only be edited before they have been emailed to the volunteer — once sent, the content is locked so the volunteer's copy always matches what is on record.
- Use the Send Email action to email the certificate to the volunteer when you are ready. This is a separate step from issuing, giving you time to review before the volunteer is notified.
- To revoke a certificate, use the Revoke action — the volunteer receives a notification email informing them. A certificate can only be revoked after it has been emailed.
Volunteer experience
Volunteers can download their certificate PDF directly from the self-service portal under their Certificates tab.
Public verification
Each certificate PDF contains a QR code. Scanning it opens a public verification page showing the organisation's logo, the certificate description, and confirmation that the certificate is valid — or a clear message if it has been revoked.
Public Volunteer Directory on Your Subsite
A new Volunteer Directory section is available in the subsite page editor. It displays a searchable, paginated grid of volunteers who have opted in to appear on your website.
- Only volunteers with the Show on Website consent flag enabled appear in the directory.
- Visitors can search by name and browse through pages of volunteer cards.
- Each card uses the same styled layout as the event Team tab introduced in V2.5.5.
Social Links on Volunteer Profiles
Volunteers can now add Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and website links to their profile.
- Links can be added by the volunteer themselves from the self-service portal, or by an admin from the org-facing volunteer form.
- Social icons appear on the volunteer's public profile card on the event Team tab and the volunteer directory, and in the full profile popup.
Embed YouTube and Vimeo Videos on Subsite Pages
Video embeds added through the subsite page editor (YouTube, Vimeo, and other standard embed sources) now save and display correctly. Previously, the platform's HTML sanitiser was silently stripping video embeds every time a page was saved, removing them without any warning. Embeds from trusted video hosts are now preserved.
Fix: Certificate Verify Page Now Shows Full Details
The public certificate verification page previously showed only a raw certificate type label. It now displays the organisation logo and the full certificate description — formatted correctly with bold text rendered properly rather than showing literal markdown markers.
